We found this machine in the basement today ... our guess is that Kristin will be able to tell us what it is. Some sort of textile something?

I think that is a pressing machine - for ironing. Melissa should be able to tell you for sure. I looked at one in a Goodwill Store here in MN.

This machine is a “Mangle”, a device for doing large amounts of ironing in a short period of time. I don’t know where you found it, but it looks quite like the one my mother had when she was still living in N.Braddock.

Braddock, PA

Braddock is an urban 'burb of Pittsburgh that has been drawing in DIY types willing to put their time and energy into making this a better place for everyone here. We heard about it in January 2008 from a friend of a friend whose brother had moved to Braddock in December. We made it here for a visit in February and were back for good in March. It's an almost empty town somehow full of energy.
